Background of Re-Surge Africa
The Charity Re-Surge Africa was formed to help train medical personnel in the techniques of reconstructive plastic surgery in developing countries.

In 2009, Re-Surge Africa began to operate in Sierra Leone, a country which is currently still recovering from the effects of a civil war that ended in 2002.
There is a severe lack of doctors and other medical facilities in Sierra Leone with no facilities available for patients who require reconstructive plastic surgery.
Re-Surge Africa, having identified this problem began a training programme to train local surgeons, nurses and therapists in the techniques of reconstructive surgery and treatment in the Holy Spirit Hospital in the town of Makeni.
